Do you have a 9-12 year-old curious about the way cities work?

Register your child for our Summer Kids Camp by March 29 May 4.

The Sidewalk Toronto Summer camp, offered in partnership with the YMCA, is now open for enrolment. The free program is designed for campers 9-12 years old interested in how cities work and grow. Campers will have the opportunity to learn, play, and explore as they develop and communicate their own ideas for Toronto’s waterfront, as well as swim twice a week at the Cooper Koo Family Cherry St. YMCA!

This program is part of Sidewalk Toronto’s public participation plan and is intended to ensure that children’s unique voices are also part of the planning process that will shape Quayside, a new neighbourhood on the waterfront. To meet the needs of all residents, Sidewalk Toronto must be designed with children in mind, from safe streets to kid-friendly open space.

The program is available for those families living in North St. Jamestown, Regent Park, West Don Lands, St. Lawrence, and the Esplanade. (Only families living in the areas indicated on this map are able to register http://bit.ly/2GO0aV4. Address will be verified at the time of registration.) Due to anticipated demand, the spots will be allocated by lottery and parents will be notified on April 9, 2018, only if their camper was randomly selected. Parents will also be invited to a special summer BBQ to share their ideas for waterfront development.

Spots for this program will be allocated by lottery (NOT first-come, first-served). Lottery registration opens on March 5, 2018, and closes on March 29May 4, 2018, at 6 p.m.

To register, parents will need to call the YMCA camp registration line at 647-439-6611 or 1-877-303-2267 (Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.). Applicants will need to indicate their first, second, and third choice for the weeks available. They will be notified on April 9, 2018, only if their camper was randomly selected. Selected campers will have until April 23, 2018, to call in and complete registration for their desired program. If any applicants did not get into one of their program choices they will be waitlisted for the weeks selected during the lottery process. If a spot becomes available the family will be contacted by email.
